Sharqiya Province Border Guard has revealed that during the month of Rajab it rescued 13 people from drowning. This includes five children and eight sailors who were aboard two boats that broke down at sea in bad weather conditions. Land patrols also arrested six infiltrators who tried to cross the border illegally and eight counterfeiters who falsified passes to enter fishing docks. Moreover, land patrols stopped two Gulf fishing boats which entered into Saudi waters. “Cases of drowning of women and children have begun to decrease, thanks to the Border Guard's awareness campaigns,” said Maj. Gen. Muhammad Saad Al-Ghamdi and spokesman of Sharqiya Border Guard. The Border Guard has not registered any drowning cases involving women this year. Extensive awareness campaigns will continue during summer as beaches bustle with families. __
