Authorities in the Eastern Province have revealed that over the past six months 224 persons, mostly of Asian origin, were detained attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally. The Border Guard bi-annual report also reveals the detention of 180 sea vessels, and the rescue of 140 sailors and other persons from the waters aboard 74 boats. Forty-one individuals were also rescued after being swept away in currents, and five drownings were recorded.
