Santos, Allego and Heredia sparkled with 281, 233 and 222 for Gulf while Gerry Tano, Lourdes Punzalan and Ed Sardi?a binged 268, 245 and 226 for J & J. Dynamic Keglers and No Fear were on the magic four with 1,217 and 1,157. Gulf Oil then seized top position at 2,476 on its 1,198 follow up. Idols clung on to second with 2,419 while Lance & 3rdy pursuing at third and fourth at 2,391 and 2,384. Gulf Oil charged another deadly offense at 1,260 in the last game to be on top at 3,736 and completing the magic four were the Idols, No Fear and Lance & 3rdy with 3,533, 3,523 and 3,496. Eliminated were Bowling Is Fun (3,461), Pinoy Salo-salo (3,446), Dynamic Keglers (3,391), Bowlodrome Shark (3,324) and Shawly Bowlers (3316). On the 28th week and first stepladder match, it was No Fear that made headway when the Jay Bengco-managed team bested the other playoff survivors in another 3-game exciting series wherein Gulf Oil salvaged the second and last slot. At the outset it was Gulf Oil that showed steady momentum to lead game one at 1,197 with Vistal blasting 254 backed up by Heredia at 219. No Fear with Rommel Marasigan and Jerry Mandanas primarily cropping with 248 and 210 was right behind with 1,190 while Lance & 3rdy and Bowling Idols tried to keep distance with 1,145 and 1,113. A well shared 1,198 in game two computed Gulf Oil of 2,395 for top post. No Fear tightly sticking with 2,385 on their 1,197 gap sustenance on the pillaring of Rene Punzalan (216) and Cesar Monares (221). Lance & 3rdy moved closer at 2,363 on its 1,218 hound while Bowling Idols languished last with 2,255. An amusing but suspenseful last game was witnessed when Gulf Oil got riddled with errors to post its lowest at 1,108. At this instance No Fear players cohesively supported the rallying Punzalan who sparkled with 236. Such solidity of 1,154 made No Fear top finisher of stepladder one with 3,541. Lance & 3rdy stayed alive till the last frame but the supposed heroic chase got hampered by atrocious miss for 3,477 final score making Gulf Oil celebrate for entering the next round with 3,503.
