UCC shocks Nestle Milo

JEDDAH: Nestle Milo went down to United Cricket Club as Crown Blue defeated Pak-XI, Al-Safri-XI thrashed Usman Gems Green and Usman Gems Warriors lost to Jotun Paints in the Summer Afternoon games sponsored and organized by the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) here.
The United Cricket Club edged Nestle Milo by 5 runs in thriller. The United Cricket Club, taking the strike first, was scuttled out for 131 with Aftab top-scoring with 20 and Amir Shahzad adding 18. Bowlers had a field day as Rayan grabbed 3-24, Asim 2-19, Taimoor 2-25 and Naseer 2-19 for Nestle.
Nestle Mile in return was bundled out for 126 with Rana Shahzad grabbing 3-25, Shahnawaz 3-14 and Ihaab 2-19 for United Cricket Club. Umer and Faiyyaz were the only Nestle Milo players to put up some resistance, contributing 41 and 26 runs respectively as others hardly crossed the 10 digit mark. The second match saw Crown Blue beat Pak XI by 25 runs. Batting first Crown Blue scored 222-8 in 20 overs with Anwaar (Chand) hammering an unbeaten 65, Murtuza adding 34, Hasanat stroking 31 and Imran adding 20. Shahid took 3-22 for Pak XI.
Pak XI team could muster only 197 runs as Yaser hit 71 off 43 balls, Fasil 32, Imran 28 and Masood 20. Anwaar exhibiting fine all-round performance grabbed 3-24, Murtuza 3-40 and Saleem 2-29.
In the third match Usman Gems Warriors was restricted to 96-7 against Jotun Paints. Saleem made 22 and Nadeem Shabbir 21 for the Warriors. Shabbir bagged 2-15 for Jotun Paints.
Jotun in response was home (97 runs) for the loss of two wickets off just 48 balls. Imran made 38 and Shafeeq remained unbeaten on 28 to take the team to victory.
The fourth match of the Afternoon event saw Usman Gems Green take the strike first against Al-Safri-XI, but it could only get to 148-6. Irfan hit 54, Rauf 27 and Tauheed 23. Abid and Aftab took two wickets each for 29 and 19 runs, respectively for Al-Safri.
Al-Safri-XI reached the winning target of 149 for the loss of three wickets in 14.3 overs. Opener Ghayour smashed 80 runs off 49 balls with the help of 16 boundaries to ensure victory after two wickets fell in quick succession as Manjeet made 19. Bali took 2
