JEDDAH: Paolo Allego and Eloisa Fernandez convincingly beat their respective rivals on the two-game 4-bowler race finals marking the conclusion of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group monthly tournament for June championship at the Bowling City here. Allego, who was also the April titlist but was defeated by Joel Nidoy on May, aimed to regain the crown by topping Class D with his scratch series of 790 from games of 172, 222, 189 and 209. Challenged by Sol Cuenca, who with his 207 humbled Ronnie de Castro, Jowet Carreon, Carling Constantino and Fred Cuenca on the shootout, Allego beat the challenger with 210 and 162 for 372 scratch total. Cuenca could only compete with 319. Winning the Class D crown, Allego got head-on with Randy Mata, Marcelo Manalo and Jett Santos. Mata, who was on top in Class A at 820, routed Bobby Baraquel (429-336). Baraquel won over Ric Reformado, Archie Santos and Joel Nidoy on the shootout. Manalo reached the title match by beating Willie Ansis (341-319). Ansis with 229 dislodged Melvin Lising (223), Priz Calidro (219), Ruel Santoc (208), Jun Estefano (205), Johnny Macalintal, Rene Rom, Jimmy Aragones and Jimmy Leonida on B shootout. Santos who won over Edward Botardo, Marlon Heredia, Arnold Banayat and Nards Hassan entered finals via walloping C top qualifier Joey Calapatia (393-260). Equipped with 24 handicap, Allego scratched 193 to defend top spot with his 217 opener. Santos closely challenged with 210 while Manalo and Mata must score more for better chance with their 184 and 182. Knowing the highly respected perfect-gamer Mata can dislodge him in an explosion, Allego tried surviving the ultimate game with a 199. Such anticipation worked well when his 416 handicapped total made him champion for the second time as the 213 pursuit could only elevate Mata to first bridesmaid position at 395. Santos was third place with 376 and Manalo landed fourth with 357. Fernandez on her trek top-qualified group CD with 780 to be seeded to final with Imelda Sayago who emerged as 4-game top finisher with 803 in group AB. Susan Patayan and Vangie Lim joined the final lap via beating Pinky Acato (183-169) and Ester Santoc (158-157) on their respective shootout. Like Allego, Fernandez readily seized top spot with 187 as Lim, Patayan and Sayago paced with 167, 149 and 135 in that order. Patayan tried to close in with a string of strikes for 215 chase into which Fernandez repulsed with spares to be at average with 189. Lim scored 197. Fernandez eventually retained the top spot with 376 for the June championship, while Lim won second place via rule of consistency (30-66) when she tied Patayan at 364 and Sayago placed fourth with 313. Other lady aspirants were Carmen Lim, Evelyn Garcia, Farida de Guzman, Janna Felismenia, Malou Gime, Malou Nidoy, Puri Parena and Sally Sa?osa. __
