JEDDAH: Despaired on his three chances to the monthly crown, Rolly Vistal bowled a couple of great games to beat Marcelo Manalo, Ric Reformado and Jerry Carredo to lift the title while May Lourdes sustained average games to be the lady titlist via 4-pin gap from Carmen Lim at the end of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group March Championship at the Bowling City here. Topping the elimination with 4-game series of 847 from games of 217, 227, 191 and 212, Vistal stopped Jowet Carreon on their 2-game series Class D championship decided at 422-397. Carreon got the chance to face Vistal by beating Ronnie de Castro (180), Paolo Allego (183), Med Ramos (195), Sol Cuenca (205) and Rudy Carillo (203) with his 219. Emerging Class C champion was Carredo, who humbled Jett Santos at 394-387 2-game decision. Santos with 228 triumphed over Edward Botardo (216), Rudy Jamon (207), Joey Calapatia (197), Jay Bengco (196) and Robert Stone (181). Class B champion was Manalo who succeeded over top qualifier Jimmy Aragones on tightly contested series of 412-423 from exciting games 245-201 and 211-178. Manalo outlasted Johnny Macalintal (200), Melvin Lising (191) and Ruel Santoc (183) with his 212. Reformado championed class A by whipping Andy Yumena on 2-game series of 424-395. Yumena eliminated Joel Nidoy (201), Ed Sardi?a (198) and Emil Payongayong (186) with his 205. Vistal then showed sustained adrenaline on the overall championship wherein he readily topped the first game of their 2-game finals with 231. Closest threat was Manalo at 207 while Carredo and Reformado seemed to have problem probing the match with separate 189 and 148. But finding his track on the ultimate game, Reformado displayed his highly reputed kegling quality aiming to chase with string of strikes which alarmed Vistal and Manalo who are defensively entrenching the two top posts. Such scenario tended Vistal to live with his sparing which safeguarded him till he survived the 233 all-out pursuit of Reformado who could only land at third place with 382 2-game series. Vistal survived and finally clinched the title with his 428 handicapped finish making Manalo his bridesmaid with 404 while Carredo settled 4th place with 356. In the ladies division, Malou Gime and Carmen Lim finished top in groups AB and CD with their respective scores of 814 and 787 to advance to the final. Lourdes (768) and Malou Nidoy (752) qualified second and third, while Ester Santoc and Eloisa Fernandez paced Lim with 786 and 752 on the two lower notches. Lourdes and Fernandez then also entered the finals by beating Nidoy and Santoc in 1-game shootout. Lourdes readily occupied top position with 191 on the first set while Gime and Lim were tied at 186 and Fernandez was on last spot with 164. Sensing competitors may explode and overtake her, Lourdes bettered her shots to fortify her campaign and finally took the ladies crown on 2-game total of 391 sealed by her 200 on the ultimate set of this FEDBG March championship. Lim kept second place when she out-scored third placer Gime at 387-366 while Fernandez dwelled last with 320. __
