Yasmin International School beat Al-Huda International School 6-2 in the inaugural match of the under-13 Peevees Cup Inter-School Football Tournament here last week. M.J. Siddiqui, Principal of International Indian School, Riyadh, (IISR) inaugurated the tournament organized by Peevees Group of Schools for students studying in Saudi Arabia affiliated to New Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The tournament is hosted by Al-Yasmin International School, Riyadh. The matches will be conducted on league basis and two teams will qualify for the Inter-zone matches to be played in Jeddah from Oct. 10 to 13. The teams will advance according to the number of points they accumulate. The first round of the tournament are being organized on zonal basis (Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh). Five teams from different schools are participating in the inaugural event. The purpose of the sporting event is to spot talent at an early age and promote soccer among the CBSE schools in the Kingdom. It also aims at raising the standard of sports in schools by inculcating the spirit of sportsmanship among the students. M.C. Sebastian, principal and academic director of Peevees Group of Schools, welcomed the guests on the occasion. S.M. Noushad, group manager of Peevees Group of Schools, was the guest of honor. Ummer Kutty, sports coordinator of Keli, a Riyadh-based social organization, was also present. __
