The students of International Indian School, Riyadh (IISR) clinched the maximum number of trophies in the Inter-School Open Table Tennis Tournament which was organized by New Middle East International School, Riyadh (NMEIS). NMEIS secured second position with four championship trophies while IIPS stood third with two titles and DPS with one. About 160 students – boys and girls – from five international Indian community schools, affiliated to New Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) participated in the four-day long tournament. The participating schools were IISR, International Indian Public School (IIPS), Delhi Public School (DPS), Al-Yasmeen International School, Al-Aliya International School and New Middle East International School (NMEIS). The tournament, first of its kind in Riyadh, was conducted at the newly built air-conditioned sport auditorium of the NMEIS. The competitions were held in three different categories as Under 14, 16 and 19 for singles and doubles. Adnan Alam of IIPS clinched the under-19 single's title by defeating Mohammed Bilal of IISR while Soliha Rahman of IISR defeated Wardah Talib in an all-IISR battle for the trophy in the same category. Mohammed Owais and Robert Aaron of NMEIS defeated Roshan Ajoy and Mohammed Bilal Shaik of IIPS in the Under-14 doubles boys category to clinch the title. Rahber Aman and Basil Khan of IISR defeated fellow schoolmates Muzammil Ahmed and Zaid Mirza in the Under-16 doubles (boys) while in the Under-19 doubles Friederich Samuel (NMEIS) and Adnan Alam (IISR) trounced Mohammed Bilal and Ziyad Hussain of (IISR). Robert Arron (NMEIS) defeated Mrigank Kaushal (IIPS) in singles Under 14 category. Friederich Samuel (NMEIS) overpowered Basil Khan of IISR for Under-16 singles title. Adnan Alam of IIPS routed Mohammed Bilal of IISR to clinch the Under-19 singles title. Layan H. Sherif, C.V. Prakiya of DPS were victorious in Under-14 doubles girls category over Sara Mariam and Abinaya Sentil of IISR. Sohaila Rahman and Wardah Talib of IISR prevailed over fellow schoolmate Heba Mazhar and Nashrah Nazneen in the Under 19 doubles. In the Under-14 category, Safia Rahman of IISR crushed C.V. Prakhya to clinch the singles title. Tabassum Farooque, Principal, NMES, thanked the participating schools and the sponsors for their valuable support in organizing the tournament. Tabassum also presented mementos of appreciation to the sponsors and the coordinators. Kavita conducted the proceedings and Asiya Masarrat of NMEIS proposed a vote of thanks.
