Kidnapping of Countries!!
Al-Riyadh Editorial
Published in Alriyadh on 16 - 06 - 2014

If we look at the Arab condition and the incidents going on in it; we shall realize that it is witnessing a new formation which is heading it towards a map that shall reshape its geographic and demographic formation on racial and sectarian bases which shall divide it to zones of influence which are easy to deal with and control.
This is a reality rather than a political fiction as what is going on in Syria, Iraq, Libya and even Yemen provides indicators of that something is being plotted and that the trend of splitting these countries is an issue which exceeds the level of being no more than dark ideas or improper pessimism. Thus, if the case is so, what is the logical explanation of what is going on?
At the beginning of the so called "Arab Spring;" we have seen some nations who have revolted to protest against the miserable political, economic and social condition they are suffering from. These nations have managed to move away the powers they have thought to be the main reason behind what has been going on and have thought that they were going to start a new era of political openness and economic prosperity. However, nothing of such assumption have occurred even in the countries where regimes have been less violent in dealing with such changes as neither political freedom has come along nor economic prosperity has occurred while the social prosperity has become a sort of fiction or imagination.
The states that have drowned in blood have become states of chaos which have wasted their past and have no current idea about its future for the interests of those who have considered themselves politicians and appointed or imposed themselves as custodians of nations who have sought no more than decent living. This situation applies on the Syrian and Iraqi cases in particular while the situation is different in the Yemeni case where the state is seeking to build itself but its weakness is blocking it from doing so in addition to that terrorism was about to destroy it together with the attempts of splitting the state which has not succeeded until now.
After four decades of Gaddafi's governance in Libya, the Libyan people have found themselves in the middle of a conflict for seizure of power by groups of various trends together with the tribal and regional formation of the Libyan community which is affecting the whole situation at the same time.
There are Arab states which have been kidnapped by civil wars and armed groups and this situation has led them towards having no idea about what is going to happen today and they shall do tomorrow?!
The aforesaid provides the most prominent examples of some Arab countries which have become so close to being split on racial, sectarian and tribal bases. It is a division that we do not wish to happen as it is never going to be serving the interest of Arab nationalism for sure. On the contrary; it is going to be a disaster for such nationalism as it will break the Arab nations that we have always dreaming to unify.
