Within a week of the crime, the Taif Police have arrested a 17-year-old African youth for allegedly abducting and raping a seven-year-old Pakistani girl. A special task force formed by the Taif Police tracked and identified the sex maniac who lives in the same neighborhood where the assault took place. The suspect has confessed to his disgraceful act. According to sources, the suspect abducted the little girl, ‘Saja', as she was on her way to a nearby grocery and sexually assaulted her in a deserted enclosure. The National Society for Human Rights in Taif, which has been following up the case, sent a representative to visit her in hospital on Sunday where she is being treated. The girl is reported to be in stable condition. The Society representative was briefed on the medical care provided to Saja and the social and psychological rehabilitation program she was undergoing. Saja had gone missing for an hour before she was found by a neighbor in the Aqeeq neighborhood, lying unconscious on the ground and bleeding. She was taken to hospital where the family of the victim was shocked on learning from the doctors that their daughter had been sexually assaulted. Last Tuesday morning, Saja had asked her mother for a few riyals to buy candies from a nearby grocery. The mother refused at first, but when she persisted, she gave in to her request, the girl's uncle said. The mother got worried when Saja failed to return home after almost an hour. But the suspense soon ended when the neighbor informed her that he had found the girl lying near his house unconscious and bleeding. The girl was rushed to King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Taif where she underwent an operation for several hours to stop the bleeding.
