The Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, Engineer Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Falih, has expressed his thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Council of Economic Affairs and Development, for the Cabinet's approval at its last session of the National Atomic Energy Program, stressing that it will be a strong pillar supporting the Kingdom's orientations to achieve the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Engineer Al-Falih explained that the Program aims to promote and diversify the sources of electric energy and desalinate sea water, stressing the Kingdom's commitment and respect for international agreements, treaties and guiding directives relevant to such programs and projects. He pointed out that the components of this Program are the result of extensive and comprehensive work carried out by King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy in the past seven years, commending in this regard the good efforts exerted by the Working Team at King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, topped by the President of the City Dr. Hashem bin Abdullah Yamani. Engineer Al-Falih stressed that one of the most important elements of the program is to develop the necessary national competencies so that the Kingdom has the human capabilities needed in the fields of uranium exploration, extraction and treatment, a nuclear fuel cycle; operation, maintenance and development of atomic energy facilities and others. Engineer Al-Falih pointed out that King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy has been directed to start immediately in implementing the components of the Program in accordance with the detailed and approved executive plans.
