There is no intention to extend the "A Nation without illegal expatriates" campaign, which is scheduled to end next week, Maj. Gen. Suleiman Al-Yahia, Director General of Passports, has said. The statement came after a meeting with Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Jizan Governror, here Tuesday night. During the meeting, Al-Yahya reviewed the services provided by the passport departments to the illegal residents seeking to voluntarily leave the Kingdom. For his part, Prince Mohammed lauded the efforts of the passport officials in following up the cases of residency violations. He wished them every success in keeping order and ensuring the security of citizens and expatriates. Al-Yahia said 475,000 expatriates had so far corrected their status, taking advantage of the 90-day amnesty period. The Interior Ministry had launched the campaign on March 19, allowing residency and labor law violators 90 days to leave the country without penalties. The Passport Department and other relevant authorities had been directed to facilitate the procedures of people wishing to avail of the amnesty.
