RIYADH — Maj. Gen. Daifallah Al-Huwaifi, deputy director general of passports, said a total of 507,788 expatriates were deported for labor and residency law violations since the start of the current Hijri year (Oct. 25). Al-Huwaifi, who is also commander of the passport department's Haj forces, urged all Saudis and expatriates to abide by the rules and regulations with regard to performing Haj. The violators will face penalties, including jail, fine, seizure of vehicles and deportation, he said. Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Suleiman Al-Yahya, director general of passports, said the directorate's administrative committees in various regions of the Kingdom had issued a total of 35,010 decisions against Saudis and expatriates for labor and residency law violations during the first nine months the current Hijri year. Al-Yahya said SR56.24 million has been collected in fines from the violators. A total of 287 vehicles used for transportation of illegal residents have been impounded.
