Kingdom's wholesale prices Index falls 1.6%

The general index of wholesale prices in the Kingdom recorded a monthly decline by 0.6% in August from the previous month, also registering a decline by 1.6% annually compared to its level in August 2014.
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics and Information received by the Saudi Press Agency 'SPA' explained that the general index of wholesale prices in the Kingdom fell to 156.9 points in August 2015 against 157.9 last July and compared to 159.5 in August 2014, to record on a monthly basis a decline of 0.6%, and on an annual basis a decline by 1.6%.
The report attributed the decline in the index of wholesale prices for the month of August 2015 AD, which measures the average changes in the prices of goods and services sold in the primary market of the Kingdom, to a decline in six main constituent parts of the index, which are : Department of chemicals and related products, fell by 2.9%, followed by terms of the percentage decline of Department and other goods by 1.9%, then the Department of manufactured goods classified by material decline of 1.2%, and the Department of Miscellaneous manufactured goods, which fell by 1%, and the Department of Beverages and Tobacco by 0.3% and, finally, the Department of Machinery and Transport Equipment which fell by 0.1%.
In contrast, 3 of the main sections of the index recorded rise during the month of August, which are : Department of Animal and Vegetable Oils and Fats by 0.9% as a result of the rise in palm oil and corn oil prices, followed by the Department of Raw Materials except fuels rose by 0.4%, and finally the Department of Food live Animal with a rise of 0.2%, while the index of department and one of the main sections of the index stable without change which is the (Department of Mineral Fuels and related products).
On an annual basis the report attributed the decline witnessed in the index to the decline of indicators of the 6 sections of the main of its constituent parts came in the forefront of the Department of other commodities, which declined by a large margin reached 11.2%, followed by the Department of chemicals and related products which dropped its index as of 6 0.3%, then the Department of miscellaneous manufactured goods, which fell by 3.8%, and the Department of manufactured goods classified by materials, which dropped 3.5%, and the Department of machinery and transport equipment, which fell by 2.4% and, finally, beverages and tobacco division, whose index declined by 0 0.6%.
On the other hand, three of the main sections of the index recorded an annual rise of animal and vegetable oils and fats division, which rose 2.2%, and the Department of food and live animals, which rose by 1.7%, and the Department of raw materials except fuels rose by 0.7%, while also proved to yearly mainly mineral fuels and related products division was hardly any change.
The index of wholesale prices in the Kingdom prepared by the Department of Statistics and Information measures the change in price only and therefore excludes all price changes resulting from the difference in the brands or discount in quantities or the difference in the shipping method, or other influencing factors in order to obtain price net only after excluding all effects mentioned, and this is the figure for all years and is prepared on the basis of the Kingdom as a whole.
