Minister of Economy and Planning Dr. Mohammad bin Suleiman Al-Jasser has stressed the importance of meetings of leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council States. In a statement on the occasion of the consultative Summit of the GCC leaders under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Monday in Riyadh, Al-Jasser hailed the periodic convening of such summits and stressed the importance of economic integration among the GCC countries as a step on the path to the transition from cooperation to the desired union in view of the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to move the GCC states from the current collaboration to the stage of union. Dr. Al-Jasser stressed the importance of the GCC monetary union and reaching the single currency as soon as possible. The Minister of Economy and Planning stressed that the transition from the stage of cooperation to union stage requires speeding up the steps of economic integration and the removal of all obstacles and challenges in front of the true economic citizenship among the GCC countries.
