Japanese shares were mixed Friday morning as investors took to the sidelines because of a lack of fresh cues, dpa reported. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 2.82 points, or 0.03 per cent, to trade at 9,012.47 at the end of the morning session at 11:30 am (0230 GMT). The broader Topix index was down 1.41 points, or 0.18 per cent, at 764.01. Shares in Sony Corp plunged 5.11 per cent after the company said Thursday that it had ended the past financial year in the red for the fourth-straight year with a record annual net loss of 456.7 billion yen (5.7 billion dollars). On currency markets at 11:38 am in Tokyo, the dollar traded at 79.84-86 yen, up from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 79.74-75 yen. The euro was quoted at 103.19-24 yen, down from 103.33-38 yen late Thursday, and at 1.2924-2926 dollars, down from 1.2957-2963 dollars.
