Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu received here today Dr. Oleg Ozerov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, they had useful and extensive exchange of views on various issues of common concern and in particular they discussed the Syrian crisis and its potential consequences. On his part, the Secretary General stressed very strongly the immediate need to stop violence and bloodshed in Syria and urged Russia to play a more instrumental role in pushing further the Syrian regime to implement promptly UN and Arab League Joint Envoy for Syria Kofi Annan's Six-Point Peace Plan. Prof. Ihsanoglu also stressed the absolute essentiality of fixing a timeframe for the implementation of Annan's plan. The Russian Ambassador commended the very consistent and active role played by the OIC in this crisis.
