The Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani today expressed profound upset and strong condemnation of President Ahmadi Nejad of Iran's visit to the occupied UAE island of Abu-Musa. In a statement, he said the visit is considered a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates, a member state of the GCC, and would not alter the historical and legal realities and the sovereignty of the UAE over the three islands of Greater Tomb, Smaller Tomb and Abu-Musa. Al-Zayani confirmed that the visit represents an irresponsible provocation and a step that doesn't match with the policy of good neighborhood followed by the GCC countries in their treatment to Iran or with the peaceful endeavors taken by the GCC countries calling it to solve the islands problem through direct negotiations or resort to arbitration at the International Justice Tribunal.
