OCCUPIED THREE ISLANDS OF TOMB AL KUBRA, TOMB AL-SUGHRA AND ABU MUSA AND THEIR SURROUNDING TERRITORIAL WATERS, CONTINENTAL SHELF AND ECONOMIC ZONES IN THEIR CAPACITY AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES. NOTING THAT NO BREAKTHROUGHS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE NEGOTIATIONS WITH IRAN IN THIS CONCERN, THE COUNCIL CALLED ON IRAN TO RESPOND POSITIVELY TO THE UAE AND THE WORLD COMMUNITY'S ENDEAVORS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM EITHER THROUGH DIRECT NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO CONCERNED PARTIES OR SENDING THE CASE TO THE INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE TRIBUNAL. ON THE IRANIAN NUCLEAR FILE, THE SUPREME COUNCIL REITERATED ITS CALL FOR THE IMPORTANCE OF REACHING A PEACEFUL SOLUTION TO THIS CRISIS, URGING IRAN TO CONTINUE INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUE AND FULL COOPERATION IN THIS REGARD WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY (IAEA). THE COMMUNIQUE ALSO URGED IRAN TO LIVE UP TO THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS OF SECURITY AND SAFETY AND CONSIDER THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF THIS MATTER IN COOPERATION WITH THE IAEA. IT CALLED ON ISRAEL TO JOIN THE NON-PROLIFERATION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS TREATY AND PUT ALL ITS NUCLEAR FACILITIES UNDER THE DISPOSAL OF INTERNATIONAL INSPECTORS OF THE IAEA. THE COUNCIL REITERATED ITS CALL FOR MAKING THE MIDDLE EAST, INCLUDING THE GULF REGION, A MASS DESTRUCTION WEAPONS FREE ZONE AND AT THE SAME TIME RECOGNIZING THE RIGHT OF THE REGION'S COUNTRIES IN POSSESSING EXPERIENCE IN NUCLEAR ENERGY FOR PEACEFUL PURPOSES. THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF THE GCC HAS COMMISSIONED THE CONDUCT OF A JOINT STUDY BY THE GCC MEMBER COUNTRIES TO FORGE A JOINT PROGRAM IN THE FIELD OF NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY FOR PEACEFUL PURPOSES ACCORDING TO INTERNATIONAL CRITERIA AND SYSTEMS. ON THE IRAQI AFFAIRS, THE COUNCIL EXPRESSED WITH PROFOUND SADNESS, THE DETERIORATING SITUATION IN IRAQ. REFERRING TO THE RECENTLY-CONCLUDED CAIRO-BASED MEETING OF THE ARAB MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE ON IRAQ, THE SUPREME COUNCIL STATED ITS POSITION CALLING FOR THE RESPECT OF THE UNITY, SOVEREIGNTY, IDENTITY AND INDEPENDENCE OF IRAQ, REJECTING CALLS AND PLOTS FOR ITS SEDITION AND DIVISION AND EMPHASIZING THE NON-INTERFERENCE IN IRAQ INTERNAL AFFAIRS POLICY UNDER WHATEVER PRETEXT. THE COUNCIL CONSIDERS THE NATIONAL RECONCILIATION AS THE KEY SOLUTION OF IRAQ'S PROBLEMS AND THAT THE ACHIEVEMENT OF NATIONAL RECONCILIATION AMONG THE IRAQI PEOPLE'S SECTARIAN AND ETHNICAL COMPONENTS IS A BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR ACHIEVING STABILITY IN IRAQ. THE COUNCIL DENOUNCED ALL KINDS OF VIOLENT AND TERRORIST ACTIONS, KILLING , SECTARIAN VIOLENCE AND ARBITRAL DISPLACEMENT PREVAILING AT THE IRAQI ARENA. WELCOMING MAKKAH DECLARATION ON IRAQ, THE COUNCIL EXTENDED SUPPORT FOR THE IRAQI GOVERNMENT IN ADDRESSING SUCH ILLEGAL ACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES AND CALLED ON IT TO DISSOLVE MILITIAS IMMEDIATELY AND END THE ILLEGAL ARMED ACTS WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO FURTHER AGGRAVATING THE SITUATION IN IRAQ. --MORE
