Djibouti Minister of Housing, Rehabilitation and Environment Hassan Omer Mohammed commended the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in protecting the maritime environment in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, through supporting the Jeddah-based Regional Authority to Protect Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden Environment. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following a meeting with the Secretary General of the Regional Authority Prof. Ziyad bin Hamza Abu Ghararah, the Minister said the Kingdom is the pillar in the success of the Authority's tasks and activities, praising the pivotal role of the Authority as the only Arab body that, closely and continuously works with Djibouti to guarantee the safety of the environment. The Minister signed a memorandum of understanding, on behalf of Djibouti on State Port Monitor of Ships in the region of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Djibouti is the fourth country to sign the memo which aims at promoting maritime safety and security, in addition to preserve maritime environment of the region.
