U.S. stocks closed slightly higher Friday as investors remained apprehensive about the health of the economy following the latest report on home sales that signaled housing is still having trouble fully recovering. Commodities helped lift the stock market on Friday. The Dow Jones industrial average increased 34.59, or 0.27 percent, to 13,080.73. The broader Standard and Poor's 500 index rose 4.33, or 0.31 percent, to 1,397.11. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index gained 4.60, or 0.15 percent, to 3,067.92.
