Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Shiekh, Speaker of the Shoura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, confirmed that his country was following with concern the situation in Syria and the increase of violence acts that led to more killings and injuries. Addressing the 18th Arab Parliamentary Union here today, Al Al-Shiekh also lauded the Palestinian reconciliation that has recently taken place following an arrangement signed in Doha, Qatar, between the two Palestinian major factions. He said the Arab nation is currently facing internal and external challenges, citing the international financial crisis, energy-related problems, unemployment, education's crisis, unhealthy environments, that necessitate taking decisive decisions to meet the aspirations of our leaders and achieve the demands of our peoples. He considered this conference as one of the most important regional parliamentary gatherings as it builds a firm base of dialogue and coordination amid extraordinary economic and political circumstances. He highlighted the role of Shoura Council for hosting the Speakers of the parliaments of the G20 member countries in Riyadh recently, noting that Saudi Arabia, the only Arab country enjoying the membership of such gathering.
