The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet session which was held at Al-Yamamah palace in Riyadh today. At the outset of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques discussed with the Cabinet the latest developments at Arab, regional and international arenas. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, said the Cabinet reiterated the call of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the UN Security Council to exercise its legal role and uphold its moral responsibilities by taking the initiative for cessation of violence in Syria, stopping bloodshed of the Syrian people and working on the delivery of medical and humanitarian assistance to affected civilians. The Cabinet hailed in this regard the holding of UN humanitarian forum in Geneva next Thursday to determine the humanitarian needs of the Syrian people. On the Gulf arena, the Cabinet lauded the statement issued by 122nd ordinary ministerial session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States which was held yesterday in Riyadh on joint action developments and achievements in all fields, emphasizing the importance of achieving further progress and development of the GCC countries, supporting and enhancing security and stability and discussing the proposal of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on moving from the cooperation stage to the state of Union in the light of the results of the first meeting of the specialized commission formed by the GCC states to study the proposal in all its aspects. The results of the study reflected interest in the transfer of the march of the GCC joint actions to the stage of the Union to achieve the aspirations of the GCC leaders. The GCC meeting also discussed a number of regional and international issues. --More
