Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Minister of Foreign Affairs, hailed the effective role played by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in dealing with the events and developments in the Arab world since the beginning of last year when the situation in the region started to enter into a new phase of turmoil and concern, describing the performance and management of the GCC Member States of the crisis as responsible and sincere and that it would contribute to the security and stability of the Arab countries that were vulnerable to these variables. In his address during the opening session of the 122nd Ministerial Council of GCC Foreign Ministers, Prince Saud Al-Faisal reminded the meeting that when the Arab League moved to deal with the problem in Libya, the GCC countries were at the forefront. The efforts of the Arab League to resolve the crisis in Syria were based on the visions and initiatives of our countries that were submitted to the Arab League Council at a marathon of meetings over the past period. The process of transferring power in Yemen was based on the GCC initiative that aimed to preserve unity, stability and prosperity of this country, he said. Prince Saud added: "these achievements of the GCC Member States at the Arab arena came amid a difficult situation in this region which might contribute to shaping its present and future, a development that urges us to exert more efforts in order to forge the Arab stance and style of performance towards regional issues." --More
