Arab Foreign Ministers decided to end duties of the Arab Monitors Mission in Syria and called on the UN Security Council to issue a resolution forming a joint World Arab Peace-keeping Forces and to verify the entrance into effect of a call for ceasefire in Syria. According to a communiqué of the extraordinary meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers held in Cairo today, the ministers also took a number of measures and arrangements, including prompt and comprehensive ceasefire in and around residential districts, refraining from storming them, recalling the military and its machinery to barracks and base sites and shouldering the responsibility of protecting the civilians. The Council accepted Tunisia's call for a conference for Syria's friends to be held on 24 February. The Arab countries will open communication channels with Syrian opposition and provide them with all kinds of political and material support, the statement said. They will also hold donation campaign for the people of Syria. The Council rejected and denounced the continuation of killing and violence in Syria. The Arab Foreign Ministers Council will remain in a state of continuing convening to follow-up the developments of the situation in Syria.
