Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense, the Chairman of Board of Directors of King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), and President of the Supreme Committee of the Council of King Saud University Endowments, has emphasized the importance of teaching Islamic history at Saudi universities, encouraging scientific studies and researches in history, and establishing scientific chairs for them. During an opening ceremony of a symposium of "Humanitarian and Social Aspects in the History of King Abdulaziz" here yesterday and in reply to a question for allocating an annual award for his Chair to highlight the most important research and studies linked to the history of the Arabian Peninsula in general and history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in particular, the Prince said, "It is a good idea and I will assign the Rector of King Saud University and Secretary General of King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) to discuss the idea and provide collectively this award". The symposium was attended by Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Mohammed bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, Vice Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defence, and a number of princes, ministers and officials.
