European Union's foreign policy Chief Catherine Ashton welcomed on Tuesday the meeting held in Jordan between Palestinian and Israeli officials in the presence of (Mideast) Quartet members and the host, the foreign minister of Jordan Nasser Judeh. In a statement issued in Brussels, Ashton encouraged “Israel and the Palestinians to build on this promising first meeting and continue to work toward a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.” She said the EU remains “fully committed to do all it can to contribute to the resolution of the conflict,” according to a report of Palestine News and Information Agency "WAFA".
