The European Union today lauded efforts exerted by the Gulf Cooperation Council to defuse tension in Yemen, using strenuous efforts with international partners to mediate to settle the crisis in Yemen and urge Yemenis to sign arrangement to transfer power. In a statement, the EU Foreign Ministers welcomed the signing of the arrangement to transfer power in Yemen and its executive mechanism, urging all parties to live up to their words to remain committed to a peaceful and organized transfer of power, a move considered imperative for democratic transfer process in the country.
