AlHijjah 20, 1432, Nov 16, 2011, SPA -- Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), said today that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud ordered the renovation of Jeddah's oldest two historic mosques at his expense. The two mosques were Al-Shafie Mosque and Al-Memar Mosque. Prince Sultan's remarks came after paying a visit to the historic region in Jeddah. He also said that SCTA is currently renovating more than 12 historic sites in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the aim of preserving architectural heritage.
