AlHijjah 16, 1432, Nov 12, 2011, SPA - An amount of SR 13 billion were spent by visitors on local tourism business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2010, through 4.3 million tourism trips. A report issued today by the Center of Tourism Information and Research of Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) disclosed that local tourism business trips stood at 1.3 million trips, during which visitors spent SR 2.1 billion and 69% stayed in apartments; while tourism business trips of foreigners stood at 3 million trips, during which visitors spent SR 10.9 billion and 93% of them stayed in hotels. The report said that the Kingdom is witnessing annually more than 90,000 business events hosted by more than 600 facilities for exhibitions, conferences and meetings, noting that business tourism in the Kingdom represents about 21% of total tourism.
