AlQa'dah 18, 1432, Oct 16, 2011, SPA - A senior government official in eastern Afghanistan escaped unhurt in an assassination attempt Sunday, an official said. The governor of eastern province of Paktia Juma Khan Hamdard was attacked by several assailants when he arrived at his office by car Sunday afternoon, Rohullah Samoon, the governor's spokesman said. "Governor himself was unhurt but one police officer, and one employee of the municipality were killed and four civilians were wounded," he was quoted as saying by the German Press Agency "DPA".
