AlQa'dah 17, 1432, Oct 15, 2011, SPA - The second meeting of News Agencies World Council concluded here last night, approving the convention of 4th Conference of News Agencies World Council in Riyadh in mid-November, 2013, under the banner " The Invention of A New News Agency for the 21st Century''. In a final statement, the meeting said that in implementation of the recommendation adopted at the first meeting of News Agencies World Council held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 25-27, 2011, the Council's 2nd meeting was held on October 14, 2011, at the headquarters of Press Association Agency, London, and attended by all members of the Council. The statement highlighted the welcome of Abdullah Bin Fahad Al Hussain, the Director General of Saudi Press Agency (SPA) to the convention of the 4th Conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing his pleasure to attend this important meeting, and indicating SPA's full readiness for preparation for the Conference and making every effort to implement the recommendations of the Council for the benefit of all news agencies in the world and their development in line with rapid advances in the field of communications. The statement noted that the three-day Conference will discuss a number of topics such as renewal of news agencies production and services, renewal of customers and markets, and renewal of technology used in news agencies. The meeting also agreed to form a committee of its members for planning for the convention of the Conference. The Council decided to hold its 3rd meeting in the Spanish capital of Madrid on May 24-25, 2012, and to convene its 4th meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in August 2013.
