Inter-Parliamentary Union Commends The Decision of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz On Women Participation in Majlis Al-Shura and Municipal Councils

Inter-Parliamentary Union commended the decision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on granting Saudi women the right to be members of Majlis Al-Shura and to vote and stand as candidates in Municipal Councils elections according to Sharia guidelines.
In a statement issued yesterday, the President of Inter-Parliamentary Union, Dr. Theo-Ben Gurirab, described the King's decision as historical.
