Britain said a Royal Marine has been shot and killed in southern Afghanistan, according to AP. The Ministry of Defense said Monday the marine, from 42 Commando, came under small arms fire from close range while providing support to an Afghan National Army patrol in Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province. The marine was not identified, but the ministry said his family has been notified. The death brings to 382 the number of British service personnel killed in Afghanistan since 2001.
