The Danish father of two girls who burned to death in a car near Berlin is recovering fast from his own burns and is likely to be discharged from hospital after another week, the hospital said Friday according to dpa. There has been intense interest in Denmark in the mysterious fire that killed Line Sofie Rudgaard, 9, and Marlene Marie Rudgaard, 10. The father, 40, led police to the car in the woods on August 12 and later told officers the fire was an "accident." A Danish newspaper reported that the girls' parents divorced last year and there was a dispute over visitation rights. The Berlin Accidents Clinic said the man received a skin graft on Thursday and was then released from intensive care. "From a purely medical point of view, he can probably be discharged at the end of August," a spokeswoman said. A forensic science report is due on Monday, with police focussed on blood tests that might reveal whether the girls could have been sedated with drugs before they died. Police say they have no evidence that the father was lying or that any crime was committed.
