At least five military personnel died Tuesday when a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) plane carrying eight people crashed in the southern state of Santa Catarina. The FAB said the plane, a C-98A Grand Caravan, had taken off early Tuesday from Canoas, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and was headed for Rio de Janeiro. It crashed near the town of Bom Jardim da Serra, 135 kilometres from Santa Catarina capital Florianopolis, according to a report of the German Press Agency "DPA". The Fire Department had retrieved five bodies, while three other people remained missing. There was a dense fog at the site.
