Two militants were killed in gunbattle in India-administered Kashmir on Saturday, officials said. The incident comes after the army and the police surrounded a house in a village in the southern Pulwama district late Friday upon receiving intelligence that three rebels had taken shelter there. "The militants were told to lay down the weapons but they opened indiscriminate fire, starting the gunbattle. Two militants were killed on Saturday," dpa quoted police spokesman Prabhakar Tripathi as saying. An army major and a soldier were injured in combat. Tripathi said the third militant had been wounded and that the fighting was continuing.
