A nine-day-old baby died after being thrown from a fifth-floor window of an apartment block in Slovakia, police said Friday, according to dpa. Police spokeswoman Renata Cuhakova confirmed the death in the city of Levice to the German Press Agency dpa, but refused to speculate on any suspects or motives so long as an investigation is ongoing. But local media reported comments by neighbours and the child's father that the baby's mother, 28, who had been suffering from depression after the birth, flung the child from the window while she was home alone with it. According to the reports, the woman had felt overwhelmed as a new mother.
