Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states held an open meeting followed by a closed-door one within their 119th session. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, who is also the rotatory president of the group, said the last few weeks proved that the GCC concerted moves and joint march based on united vision is the best way to deal with the serious and complicated developments witnessed by the region. He said the situation in Yemen comes top of the agenda of today's meeting, noting that the GCC leaders and foreign ministers have so far exerted strenuous efforts to heel the injuries of brothers in Yemen. He added that the Ministerial Council is no doubt following the strategic vision presented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud based on early readiness to meet the requirements of the future. Addressing the meeting, the Secretary General of the GCC Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashed Al-Zayani said today's meeting comes after the 13th consultative summit of the GCC leaders which was held in Riyadh in May 2011. He said during the meeting he would review a number of reports covering the economic, humanitarian, environment, legal, media, patent, appointments at the Secretariat General in addition to the current political issues. This was followed by a closed door session within the 119th meeting of the GCC ministerial council.
