The International Monetary Fund and World Bank will hold their autumn meetings next year in Tokyo instead of Egypt as previously planned, the organizations announced Monday in Washington. Japan was chosen as an alternative venue for the October 2012 meetings after the Egyptian authorities requested the event be rescheduled. The Egyptian authorities have asked instead to host the meetings the next time they are held abroad, the IMF said in a statement quoted by the German Press Agency "DPA". The meetings in September or October each year usually are held in Washington, but are hosted abroad every third year.
