UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon asked UN members Monday to give him a second term to allow him to continue to serve the world organization and deliver results, dpa reported. Ban announced his candidacy at UN headquarters some six months before his five-year term as secretary general is to expire on December 31. No rival have yet come out to challenge him. He sent letters to the UN General Assembly, which has 192 members, and the 15-nation Security Council, "offering humbly, myself for consideration for a second term as secretary general of the United Nations."
