Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, in his messages sent to leaders of the Russia-NATO Council member states, stated Russia's position on missile defence. The President noted in the messages that the European missile defence system can be really effective and viable only with Russia's equal participation, and emphasized the necessity to reliably guarantee that the anti-missile potentials deployed in Europe will not undermine strategic stability and will not be aimed against any of the parties, the Kremlin press service said today.
