In implementation of the directives of Prince Turki Ibn Nasser Ibn Abdulaziz, General President of Presidency of Meteorology and Environment, who is also President of Forum of Environment and Sustainable Development, the 1st National Campaign to Confront the Dangers of Plastic Bags was launched here today. Assistant Professor at King Abdulaziz University and Director of Gulf Forum of Environment and Sustainable Development, Majedah Abu Ras, has pointed out that the Campaign is one of the National Program of Environmental and Sustainable Development Awareness launched by Saudi Environmental Society, calling for replacing plastic bags with ones made from natural materials, cloth or others. She has pointed out that plastic bags cannot be decomposed or recycled and they remain intact in their sites, indicating that they are even dangerous if swallowed by fish and animals.
