Pakistan's Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani left here today on a four-day official visit to France, which is designed to strengthen further bilateral ties. In a press statement, prior to his departure, Gilani said France is an important country in the European Union and that he will seek an agreement with the French leadership in initiating a series of meetings between the two countries at the ministerial level to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields. A statement of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that Gilani will meet in Paris with French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his French counterpart François Fillon, as well as hold meetings with French businessmen and the Pakistani community residing there and that his talks with the French side will focus on discussing many issues, files, and bolster ties in the areas of security, defense and trade.
