The Executive Council of Health Ministers of the Cooperation Council For the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) will hold its regular 74th meeting here next Saturday. The Two-day meeting will focus on health information systems including electronic link to the centers for information between the countries of the Council and the Executive Office, and the smart card concept scheme as well as the GCC countries' readiness to implement this concept in the health field, said the Director General of the Council's Executive Office, Professor Tawfiq Bin Ahmed Khoja. The meeting will also deal with other technical issues including the quality of health care and patients' safety; the fight against diabetes, anti-cancer and anti-non-communicable diseases; resource centers, anti-smoking campaign; health systems' development; organ transplantation; occupational health, education and health information; the health of adolescents and young people; the eradication of polio; making the Arabian Peninsula free of malaria and infectious disease "dengue fever," and the nursing care in the GCC States, he added. The Executive Council's discussions will cover issues related to the Board of Nursing Specialization, and the Joint Procurement and registration of medical central data, and pricing of medicines and other issues of medical importance and requirement, he noted.
