Global Institute for Water Environment and Health(GIWIH) has announced that Princess Prof. Mashael bint Mohammed Saud Abdulrahman won United Nation's "Water for Life, Best Practice Award", becoming the first Arab researchers to bag a United Nation Scientific Award. Princess Prof. Mashael is the first and pioneering Saudi researchers in the applied Geomorphology at KACST's Space Researches Institute. She received recognitions from a number of international institutions including Great Women of the 21st Century Award from ABI (American Biographical Institute). The Prize will be presented at the international forum entitled "Sustainable Water Use and Management, Leadership for Positive Change" to be held later today at the United Nations office in Geneva. The researcher won the prize upon recommendation from GIWIH's advisory committee for her distinguished efforts in water researches and participation in the global innovation in the same field in addition to her creative approaches in the applied researches. Princess Prof. Mashael contributes to numerous studies on environmental issues, especially in the field of environmental disasters of earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, floods and desertification, the encroachment of the sand. She also conducted several studies in this area in an effort to focus the objectives of research to address issues that are relevant to humans, such as water, environment and desertification in order to serve sustainable development in her native Saudi Arabia. She availed practical applications by using modern technologies in environment, water and desertification that would be beneficial to the younger generation and the sustainable development, said the experts of The GIWIH.
