Cyprus' government spokesman says the Cabinet has agreed to compensate national carrier Cyprus Airways around ¤20 million ($27 million) because of Turkey's refusal to allow the airline to use its airspace, AP reported. Stefanos Stefanou says the money is for cumulative losses sustained by the state-owned airline over the last six years. He said the Turkish ban is making Cyprus Airways less competitive because its aircraft have to use alternative, longer routes leading to higher fuel costs. -- SPA
