Under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohamed, Minister of Education, opened here today the First International Conference on Total Quality in Public Education, which is organized by the Ministry of Education. During the opening ceremony of the four-day conference, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah delivered the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in which he said "Knowledge in this era is the most important source of power and the basic stimulus to the achievement of sustainable development. Hence, investing in human capital that produces knowledge is a decisive factor in determining the features of this society and the future of its members." "One of the main objectives we seek to develop effectively is education. We allocated large budgets for education, as we believe that education is the decisive factor in the equation of development which the State seeks to achieve in various fields. We are convinced that increasing expenditure on education contributes to long-term increase in rates of community development, and helps to reduce the level of unemployment and increase the balance between the educational system outputs and the labor market needs," the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques said. "Despite the success achieved over the past decades in making education accessible to all Saudi male and female students, it was necessary for us to face the current and future challenges and build educational project on the concept of quality and excellence; the shared vision; the declared institutional values; and the spirit of teamwork," King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz said. --More
