Electric power has been knocked out around Moscow by heavy snow and fierce winds, the electric utility said Sunday. The Moscow United Electric Grid Co. told the RIA Novosti news agency 88 areas outside the Russian capital were blacked out. Earlier, it put the figure at 44. Domodedovo Airport also lost some of its power for 20 minutes Sunday, its press office said. An ice storm set off huge blackouts in the Moscow region Dec. 26 when freezing rain broke many transmission lines, UPI reported.
