Updated reports said the explosion in apartment house No. 37 in Nalchik's Kalmykov Street had killed one person and injured another, a Kabardino-Balkaria law-enforcement source told Itar-Tass. "An inspection of the scene at apartment No. 46 found a radio station and parts of a homemade bomb. Supposedly, the bomb exploded as it was being assembled," the source said. The explosion ripped through the five-storey apartment house at around 23:00, Moscow time, on Monday. "The blast smashed windows, but supply lines were undamaged, so it was unnecessary to switch them off," an official at the regional department of the Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass.
